Jewell Ridge - Brenda Ruth Street Mitchell, age 71, of the Peapatch area of Jewell Ridge, VA, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 19, 2021 at home on Peapatch surrounded by her loving family.
She was born and raised in Whitewood, VA and was a daughter of the late Arthur Street and Gracie Blankenship Street. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Brenda loved Church, quilting and sewing, listening to gospel music. She enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with her granddaughter, "Nana's Doll". Brenda dearly loved her family and friends. She was a proud member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ of the White Mountain area of Jewell Ridge and the Crossview Church of Christ in Grundy, VA.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Mitchell. Her parents, Arthur Street and Gracie Blankenship Street of Raven, VA; also preceded in death three brothers: Chester Street, Alvie Street and Charlie Street.
Survivors include: Her Loving Son: Danny Lee Mitchell and wife, Aretha of Cedar Bluff, VA; and her loving granddaughter, Makayla Mitchell, who she lovingly called "Nana's Doll." Brother, Jerry Street, and wife Betty of Claypool Hill, VA; Sister, Lily Jane Cooper, and husband Sherman of Stafford, VA. A host of nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for Brenda Ruth Street Mitchell will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Preacher Charlie Cooper and Preacher Hobart Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery located in the Pea Patch community of Jewell Ridge. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Mitchell.
The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday evening where a special singing service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
