Bluefield - Betty Gail Mikels, 88, of Bluefield, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Born July 26, 1937 at Jenkinjones, WV, she was the daughter of the late John William Baldwin & Georgia Sheets Blevins.

Betty was very generous and giving to anyone of need, always worrying about the less fortunate kids at Christmas. She always put others first.

Betty was extremely independent and a strong willed woman raised two sons and becoming an LPN. She spent her life serving others, working at Stevens Clinic Emergency Room, Welch Emergency Hospital and at the Maples on a long term/part time status after her retirement. She worked many years caring for long term patients, making their lives fun sharing stories.

Betty loved animals, helping raise money/donations for the McDowell County Animal Shelter.

While spending time caring for others, Betty's greatest love and priority was her own family.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded by one sister, Texie Ratledge, of Kimball, WV.

Survivors include her two sons, Frank and Leisha Mikels, of Princeton, and John and Ernetta Mikels, of Pilot, VA; four grandkids, Jacqui & Kevin Belcher, of Princeton, WV, Christopher and Jan Mikels, of Princeton, WV, Johnathan & Katie Mikels, of Floyd, VA; and Justin Mikels, of Warren, OH; seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Granny B.

The family would like to thank the staff of McDowell County Healthcare for their loving care.

The family will honor Betty's request, she will be cremated without a service. She will be buried in the family cemetery.
