Bernard A. Beavers
Bernard A. Beavers of Tazewell, VA departed this life on Friday, December 6, 2019.
Bernard was a graduate of Tazewell High School, West Virginia Business College, and attended numerous American Institute of Banking courses. Bernard proudly served his country as a Staff Sargent in the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Tazewell American Legion Post #133.
Bernard was a career banker with Tazewell National Bank and successor Premier Bank for over thirty five years, retiring as Senior Vice president and Director. Bernard was a faithful member of Tazewell Presbyterian Church since 1957, serving as treasurer for 35 years, and as elder and member of the Board of Trustees. He also attended Midway Christian Church. Bernard married his loving wife, Harriet Sayers Beavers on February 3, 1951 and enjoyed 68 years of wonderful marriage.
In addition to his parents, George and Sallie Mundy Beavers, he was preceded in death by a brother, John M. Beavers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Harriet S. Beavers; sons, Michael R. Beavers and wife, Myrna of Roanoke, VA and Jess O. Beavers and wife, Sharon of Tazewell, VA; three grandsons, Syd B. Beavers of Roanoke, VA, Justin R. Beavers and wife, Tiffany of Easley, SC, and Lee A. Beavers of Roanoke, VA; three great grandsons; five great granddaughters; two very special grand dogs.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, December 9, 2019 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Tazewell Presbyterian Church with Minister Dan Webb and the Reverend Dr. Dave Gilbert officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Bluefield, VA.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Harriet, Mike and Jess... I so fondly remember Bernard! We lived next door to each other, on Fincastle:, for several years. I am very sad to hear of his passing.

Bernard was a true Southern Gentleman. He and his family were friends of my family for many years. The loss of Bernard will truly be missed by many in Tazewell and the area. May he R.I.P. Prayers for the family.
