Arlene Janet Collins White


PRINCETON - Arlene Janet Collins White, 75, of Yorkshire Lane, Princeton died on August 6, 2019 at the home of her daughter following a long struggle with cancer.
Born January 26, 1944, in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late Russell Collins Sr. and Lillian Elizabeth Sipe Collins.
She was a graduate of South Union High School in Pennsylvania and began her secretarial career in Washington, DC for several years, then moved to Pittsburgh and then to West Virginia to become a homemaker, wife and mother. Later in life she graduated from Bluefield State College with a business degree. She retired from the Mercer County Board of Education. She worked for 20 years, working at Memorial, Knob and the School Board.
She was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church and was active with Children's Church and T & T Group. She had been affiliated with Mapleview Church of Christ, Willowton Christian and Calfee Memorial.
She had been very active with the Mercer County School Service Personnel (MCSSPA) and had been an officer for approximately 18 years. She was a long-time member of TOPS Chapter.
Most of her life was dedicated to teaching, working as a leader in church groups, Cub Scouts, 4-H and Girl Scouts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Lois Ann Collins Alviar and James Russell Collins Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory, her children, Samuel Ellis White, Jr., Michael Lynn White and friend Brenna Sarver, Ruth Ann White Barton and husband James Jr., all of Princeton; Grandchildren, Jacob Barton and wife Michelle, Joshua and Joseph Barton, Kerri Hall, Anthony Albert, Chris, Kenneth and William Sarver, Tori and Elizabeth Booth; Great-grandchildren, Jessica Kessler, Jonathan Hall, Johanna and Julianna Christen, Natalie and Aiden Sarver, Kameron Sparks, Gabriella Albert, Kalani and Tiyana Saunders; Sibling, Diana Kay Collins Ramage and husband Chris; Brother-in-law, Cesar Alviar; Sister-in-law, Pam Collins.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday evening, August 12, 2019, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Following the services, the family will honor Arlene's request, she will be cremated. A private service for the inurnment will be held later in the Irwin Cemetery, Ohioplye, PA.
