WARRIORMINE Zola Marie Boyd, 87, of Warriormine passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA.
Born December 3, 1929 in Yukon, she was the daughter of the late Joel Ray and Pearl Honaker Ray. She was a graduate of Bluefield State College and received her Master's Degree from WVU. She retired as a Reading Specialist from the McDowell County Board of Education. She taught for over 30 years with most of her career spent at War Elementary School. She was of the Holiness Faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Boyd; five brothers, Chester, Billy, Estel, Jimmy and Lawrence Ray; and three sisters, Florine Richardson, Margaret Boyd and Peggy Deel.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, William Boyd of Warriormine; two sisters, Betty Hayes and Ruth Pack both of Warriormine; and 4 grandchildren, Janna Conn and husband Nathan of Tazewell, VA., Zachary Boyd of Warriormine, Nathan Mitchell of Bluefield, and Jared Mitchell of Warriormine; and 2 great great grandchildren, Parker and Benjamin Conn of Tazewell.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 1 at 12 p.m. in the Emmanuel Baptist Church in War with the Reverends Spencer Oxford and Martin West officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
