William's Story

William "Bill" Morgan, 97 of North Tazewell VA, formerly a lifelong resident of Welch WV died Saturday July 29, 2017 at Bluefield, WV.
Born April 10, 1920 in Roderfield, WV he was a son of the late George Raymond Morgan and Alice Davis Morgan. Bill was thrown into the workforce at an early age because of the untimely death of his father. In order to help support a younger brother and two disabled siblings he gained his first job as a coal miner, later he became a service station attendant where he mastered auto mechanics and from there worked in many different capacities over the years including the leading route salesman for Cole Baking Company, insurance sales, handling complaints for the WV Department of Highways, successfully operated a gas station and a movie theater and ended his career as Maintenance Chief at Stevens Clinic Hospital, Welch WV.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years Julia Legato Morgan who passed away on August 26, 1998 and his second wife of 11 years Margaret Ophelia Morgan who passed away on February 17, 2011. Bill was preceded in death by brothers, John Kay Morgan, Jack Marshall, and Harris Marshall and sister, Hazel Marshall.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Blankenship of Bluefield, WV, B.K. Simpkins and husband, James of Hopewell, VA; son, Kenneth Morgan and wife, Shelia of Bridgeport WV; grandsons Keith Simpkins of Dinwiddie, VA, Chris Simpkins of Chester, VA, Adam Morgan and wife, Ashley of Core, WV and Sarah Colburn and husband, Nathan of Nashville TN; five great grandchildren, Conner Simpkins, Ashton Simpkins, Isaiah Morgan, Josie Colburn and Maxwell Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday August 5, 2017 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend Dr. Thomas A. Conley officiating.
Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell, WV. Pallbearers are Keith Simpkins, Chris Simpkins, Adam Morgan, Conner Simpkins, Nathan Colburn, and Randy Sawyer. Honorary pallbearer is George Stevenson.
