BLUEFIELD, WV Valerie Cynthia Presley, age 75 years, of Augusta Street, Bluefield, WV, died on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born December 30, 1941 at Hermitage, Police Station, Berkshire, England, Valerie was the eldest child to the late Wallace John Tozer and Naomi Cynthia Townsend Tozer.
Valerie was the song leader for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) WV for over 31 years. Valerie was also a keen member of her community where she lived in Princeton and most recently in Bluefield, WV, having served as a volunteer for Princeton Community Hospital volunteering for over 5,000 hours giving dedicated service to the hospital and was recognized for her volunteering by the hospital. She was loved by everyone who came into contact with her.
Valerie was a member of Landmark First Church of God in Princeton, WV. She was an active member of their choir, singing many solos until her illness stopped her from singing, which she loved to do. Valerie was known to many children that she looked after over the years as Nanny Presley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Marie Presley.
Valerie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl Thomas Presley; daughter, Susan Faye Presley of Winsford, Cheshire, England; son, Thomas John Presley of Bluefield, VA; daughter, Gillian and husband Trevor Hillier of Brandon, Suffolk, England; brother, John Wallace and Sue Tozer of Thatcham, Berkshire, England; grandchildren, Dr. Lyndsey Harris and partner, Andrew Stephenson of Wollaton, Nottingham, England, Amy and Katie Harris of Detroit, MI, Matthew and Neil Suckling of Hockwold, Suffolk, England; great grandson, Frederick John Stephenson of Wollaton, Nottingham, England.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Landmark First Church of God, 290 Sackett Road, Princeton, WV with Pastor Scott Hodge officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Landmark First Church of God Building Fund.
