NEMOURS — On January 21, 2017, Teresa Marie Canoy Shrader passed away after a lengthy illness to be with Our Heavenly Father.
Born August 21, 1942, Teresa grew up in Mayberry, WV. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Powhatan, WV during her formative years, and later she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield where she was an active participant in several groups. She later attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lebanon, VA when she moved to help her family.
Teresa was a homemaker. Her joy and passion were to make a warm, loving, faith-filled home for her family and friends. She always welcomed anyone she met with a beautiful smile.
Teresa is preceded in death by two sons, Paul David and Daniel Phillip Canoy; her first husband, Phillip Canoy; her second husband, Darrell Shrader; and her parents, Martha Footo and Wallace Shrader.
She leaves behind loving children: her daughter, Susannah Sparks of Bluefield, with whom she made her home, and son, Nicholas Canoy and wife Melissa of Lebanon, VA; beloved grandchildren, Zachary Sparks, Kaylie, Kaleb, Konnor, and Kennedy Honaker; her treasured dog, Barnaby; brothers, Stephen Shrader of Blacksburg, VA, and Tim Shrader of Johnson City, TN; special uncle, Jack Shrader; several nieces and nephews and extended family, including George Bowling, John and Maria Cox, and Jane Comer; a cherished circle of friends, including Joanne and Alex Ercoline, Brenda Perkins, and Ann Taylor.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Thursday January 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake service to be held at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Lyttle officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Stephen Shrader, Tim Shrader, Charles Shrader, David Canoy, Cole Davis, and Rocky Malimisura will service as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Ron Ciccolini.
