Ruth Mattox Neal, 87 of Hillsboro, OR and formerly of Bluefield, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Rosewood Specialty Care in Hillsboro, OR.
Born in Bluefield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Gordon C and Virginia Bourne Mattox. She was of the Presbyterian faith. For most of her life, she was very active, enjoying swimming and cycling and loved living in Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Roy Alexander Neal; her sister: Virginia Marie Steele; niece: Debbie Mattox Rest; nephew: Brian Ray Mattox.
Those left to cherish her memory are her only child, daughter: Jacqueline Gourley and husband, Thomas David of Banks, OR; brother: John E Mattox and wife, Betty of Bluefield, VA; grandson: Jason Alexander Clark; nephew: Timothy Mattox and wife, Yasmin of Aiken, SC.
A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held Thursday, July, 20, 2017 at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Lyons officiating. There will be a private family burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the local Chapter of Alzheimer's.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at Dudley Memorial from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
