OAKVALE — Roscoe C. Harry, 89, of Cheesy Creek Road, Oakvale, died April 4, 2017 at his residence with family and friends at his bedside.
Roscoe was born January 31, 1928 in Oakvale the son of the late Mac L. Harry and Addie Owens Harry.
Roscoe was a very active and faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church in Oakvale serving as a Deacon. He was committed to the Word of God and read the Bible through sixty two times. He was a U.S. Army combat veteran (1949-1952) serving during the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star.
Roscoe was a retired Maintenance Supervisor at Norfolk Southern Railroad with over forty four years service. He loved the outdoors, especially farming and lawn care.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dean Franklin Harry; one stepdaughter, Rhonda White Pollard Meadows; one sister, Gertrude McClanahan; and four brothers, Thaddeus, Travis, Lawrence, and Gatewood Harry.
Survivors include his wife of twenty one years, Emma Dean White Harry of Cheesy Creek; one grandson, Jacob Pollard and wife Ashley of Elgood; one brother, Marshall Harry and wife Regina of Crewe, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Faith Baptist Church in Oakvale with Pastor Terry Lambert and Pastor Terry Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton with the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the church from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
