BLUEFIELD — Ronnie M. Hamlin, 64, of Bluefield, WV died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born January 13, 1953 in Bluefield, WV he was the son of the late James Millard Hamlin and Margie Covington Hamlin.
Ronnie formerly worked for the Security Department of First Century Bank. He was formerly a coal miner at Keystone Mine and had worked at Bluefield Sanitarium. He was an active member of Union Baptist Church in Bluefield where he served as a Deacon. Ronnie was also active in the community. He was a member of the Community Choir and Male Chorus. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Sabrina Hamlin and her spouse Dennis West, II, and Ronisha Hamlin all of Greensboro, NC; eight grandchildren, Deanté Hamlin and Ahmad Hamlin both of Bluefield, Tatiana West, Dennis West, III, and Jimiyah Hamlin all of Greensboro, NC, Damien Jackson, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Jamarcus Howze and Jaron Howze both of Roanoke, VA; two great grandchildren, Ava Williams and Antwan West-Williams both of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Larry Hamlin (with whom he made his home) of Bluefield; special friend, Jackie Rucker of Princeton; and best friends, Melvin Pannell and Jerome Dews both of Bluefield, Jacob Bland, II of Winston Salem, NC.
In keeping with Ronnie's wishes his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church in Bluefield with Rev. William R. Spencer officiating. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the church.
