Robert's Story

BOISSEVAIN, Va. Robert Workman Jr., 59, of Boissevain, VA, formerly of Kimball, WV, died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his residence. Born April 16, 1958 in Welch, WV, he was the son of Laura Newman Workman and the late Robert Workman Sr.
Robert was a member of the Laurel Creek Church of God. He was a retired coal miner of 37 years and was last employed with Double Take Coal Co. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who is loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.
Other than his father, Robert was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, his father-in-law Estel Lane. One sister, Tammy Bennett. One granddaughter, Bryannah and grandson Coy Nunley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Sherry Lynn Workman of the home. His mother, Laura Newman Workman of NC; one son, Robert Workman III and fiancee' Tina of Bluefield, WV; two daughters: Samantha Workman and fiance' Raymond Lambert of Spanishburg and Rachael Church and husband Jerome of Bluefield. Four brothers: Harold Kelly and wife Kathy of Gary, WV, Jerry Kelly of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michael Kelly and wife Hazel of Princeton, WV, and Zeke Workman of Denver, NC. Robert was also blessed with nine other grandchildren: Isabella, Robert, Zac, Waylon, Jessa, Drew, Joy, John, Riley and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2: PM at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, WV, with Pastor Charles Triplett and Pastor Jack Burks officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Mountain Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 12: noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Workman III, Raymond Lee Lambert, Raymond Lee Lambert Jr., Roger Black, Jerome Franklin Church, and Earl Taylor Jr.
Assisting the Workman family is Widener Funeral Home Northfork, WV.
