PETERSTOWN Robert "Eric" Martin (EMART) 28, of Fountain Springs Drive, Peterstown, died Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017 from injuries received from a single vehicle accident on Route 460 near Princeton.
Born October 14, 1988 in Princeton, he was the son of Robert Casey Martin of Princeton and Marlene Barlow Martin of Peterstown.
Eric was a graduate of James Monroe High School in 2007 where he was a standout in football & baseball.
Eric was baptized early in his life at New Hope Methodist Church near Princeton. Eric had worked for several large construction companies as a carpenter and welder. Eric had just received his state certification in welding from the Mercer County VoTech Center Wednesday evening, a short time before his untimely death. Eric held a State of Virginia Contractors license.
Eric loved the water, especially fishing on the river and at the beach. He was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Raymond Barlow, and Paternal grandparents, Robert K & Elizabeth Martin along with his faithful four legged friend Mack.
Those left to cherish his memory, his mother & father, Marlene & Casey, one sister, Jessica Cordes & husband Nik of Los Alamos NM, an Aunt Suzanne Phillips & husband Fred of Roanoke VA. His maternal grandmother Hazel Barlow of Bassett VA, additional family: Fred A. Phillips Jr. & family of VA, Bryan L. Phillips & family of MS.
Services to celebrate the life of Eric Martin will be held,1:00 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Charles & Sharon Miller & Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Monday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
