SPRINGVILLE, Va. — Rex Daniel Lane 60 of Springville, VA, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side. Born January 9, 1957 in Welch, WV, he was the son of the late Elmer H. Lane and Ruth Lorraine Lane.
Rex was a 1975 graduate of Welch High School and was a very spiritual person who truly loved the Lord. He was a former coalminer and enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and his animals. Rex was an accomplished pianist whose music obviously came from his heart. He once was the pianist for the music group The Morrison Family. He was outgoing and friendly and never met a stranger. He was a loving father, grandfather, friend and companion and will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
Other than his parents, Rex was preceded in death by three nephews: Mark Daniel Fitch, Landis Daniel Lane and David Ray Goad Jr.
Survivors include his roommate and best friend of 22 years Richard Boothe. Daughters: Angela Lane of Louisville, KY, and Lisa Hall and husband Michael of Brushfork, WV. One son, Jason Lane and wife Britney of Bluewell, WV. Three Sisters: Carolyn Lane Fitch and husband Charles of Paintsville, KY, Drema Schultz and husband Jackie of Florida and Rhonda Goad and husband David of Pipestem, WV. One brother, Michael Lane of Princeton, WV. Rex was also blessed with five grandchildren: Cory Lineberry of KY, Dylan and Jacob Hall of Brushfork, WV, Chase and Hannah Lane of Bluewell, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, WV, at 12: noon with the Pastor Keith Booth officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial
Park in Bluewell, WV.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 25 from 6 until 8: PM at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Andrew Goad, Mark Jones, Robert Jones, Barry Bailey, Randy Lane and
Harold McBride. Honorary pallbearer will be Cory Lineberry.
