Paul (Ernest Paul) Blankenship, Jr., 87, of River Bend Road, Rich Creek departed this life Saturday evening, June 17, 2017 at his home in the loving care of his family. Born in Giles County on November 27, 1929 he was a son of the late Ernest Paul Blankenship, Sr. and Carrie Evelyn Ratcliffe Blankenship. He was self-employed as a scrapper and flea market merchandiser.
Paul was a veteran of the US Navy and US Air Force. He and Ester attended Heritage Church in Dublin when they lived in Pulaski Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara Simmons Blankenship, his brothers Jessie, Bill, Bobby Joe and Charles Blankenship; his sisters Evelyn Blankenship, Eula Hale, and Shorty Blankenship.
He leaves to cherish his memory his life partner and sweetheart of 26 years, Ester Ellen Shannon of the home; his sons Ricky Shepherd, Michael Blankenship, Curtis Blankenship, Randy Blankenship all of Roanoke; his daughters Linda Ashwell of Roanoke and Kim Baron of Bedford; his brother Jack Blankenship of Rich Creek; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Sunrise Memory Gardens in Rich Creek with military graveside rites by local American Legion and VFW Posts.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
