Novella Strain 86, of Princeton made her transition on January16, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Marselena Howard.
Born October 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Chambliss and Elizabeth Baxter Chandler.
She retired from the Maidenform County. She previously attended Johnston Chapel and is currently a member of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ in Princeton. She owned and operated Novella's Beauty Salon and was a musician, playing the piano, in spite of her deafness.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Strain, Jr., stepfather, Willie Chandler, and siblings: Willie Chandler, Jr., King Chandler, Othello Chandler, Charles Chandler, Carlton Hollands and granddaughter Tanya Chambliss.
Those left to cherish her memory are sisters Alicia K. Crosby of Dayton, OH, Hattie (Garrett) Webb of Gary, IN, Claude (Carol) Chandler and Calvin Chandler of Gary, IN, two sons: Leroy (Lillian) of Dayton, OH., Xavier (Barbara) of Princeton, one daughter with whom she made her home, Marselena (Marcie) Howard of Princeton, grandchildren: Aaron (Kathy) Chambliss, Kentwood, MI, Ayanna (Kevin) Franzen of St. George, UT, Xavier Jr. (Shannon) Strain of Princeton, Samantha Devon of Bluefield, Deric Taylor of Princeton, Ingrid (Steven) Robinson of Gastonia, NC, Carl Howard (Dacia) of Princeton, great grandchildren: Marcel, Ryah, Ashley, Rashawn, Levon, Christian, Malik, Madisyn, Kyliah, Ryelle, Devon, Xavier, Isiah, Elijah, Lyric, nieces: Cindy Wilborn, Felicia (Wesley) Dillard, and Angel Wilborn, nephews: Ricky, Reginald, and Ronnie Wilborn. Novella had special friends and caregivers that she loved and they loved her: Sharon Hairston, Carl Howard, Jr., Gig Fragale, Roger Murphy, Jerry Billings and the late James Hill, Jr., and cousin Eldora Peak.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 23, 2017 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Donald Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Littlesburg. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Monday.
