Nellie "Fay"'s Story
BLUEFIELD — Nellie "Fay" Hawks Doyle, 89, of Bluefield, WV, died Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born September 6, 1927 in Springville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Glen Hawks and Arietta Burnette Hawks; two brothers, Otis Glen Hawks and William Hawks; and one sister, Pansy Stevens.
Mrs. Doyle was a charter member of the Church of Christ at Maple View where she was an active member of Lydia Circle. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, Bluefield Chapter #66.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Gibson and son-in-law, Don Raymond.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Ernest H. "Junior" Doyle; two daughters, Brenda Raymond of Christiansburg, VA, and Linda Reed and husband Timothy of Princeton, WV; son-in-law, Rick Gibson; one brother, Ernest Hawks of San Jose, CA; two sisters, Irene Harman and husband Darrow of N. Tazewell, VA, and Burnell Rourk of Temperance, MI; four grandchildren, Delnora Reed Acuff and husband Howie, Alan Reed and wife Cassie, Christina Rehg, and Rachel Merrix and husband J.D.; seven great-grandchildren, Adriana, Lyndsey, Brylan, Lacie, Easton, Caelan, and Reed; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Hawks of Bluefield, VA, Josephine Hawks of Gilbert, WV, Jean Booth of Bluefield, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Thursday evening, January 5, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday January 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tony Reed and Minister Caleb Penwell officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the Church of Christ at Maple View Building Fund, 194 Robins Rest Road, Bluefield, WV 24701.
