Nellie Victoria Butt Holtzapple from Shrewsbury, PA passed away peacefully Monday, December 19, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy, PA. Born December 10, 1921 in Nemours, WV, she was the daughter of the late Grat and Pearlie Butt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Holtzapple, brothers; Andrew, Marion, and Lee; sisters Bertha Riley and Geneva Burton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her stepsons; Jeff Holtzapple(Barb) OH, Mike Holtzapple(Shelly), and Steve Holtzapple PA, and stepdaughter; Bonnie Mangan(Peter) PA, brother; Alfred Butt(Sue) MO, sister-in-law Mary Butt, Bluefield, life-long friend Cora Steele, Princeton, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends in PA.
Nellie was one of the "Rosie Riviters" during WWII. She worked in an assembly plant in Baltimore helping to build the small fighter planes Avenger and Wildcat. She moved to Shrewsbury in 1953 to work in manufacturing at Tyco Electronics and retired after thirty-two years of service. It was there she met her husband John. Nellie enjoyed life, especially good times with family and friends and worshiping Jesus her Savior and Lord at Grace Fellowship in Shrewsbury.
A memorial service for Nellie will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Monday, January 30, at 11:00 with Pastor Hugh Cole from Edgemont Baptist Church officiating
