WHITEWOOD, Va. — Mose Horn, age 91 of Whitewood, Virginia passed away in Tazewell, Virginia on Saturday, April 15, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in the Marvin area of Buchanan County and was the son of the late Aaron and Martha Keen Horn. He had spent most of his life working in the coal mines, and after retiring he enjoyed to hunt, fish and spend time gardening. He was a lifetime resident of Buchanan County and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi "Top" Elrod Horn; sisters, Vergie Ward, Ruth Hunt, Stella Short; brothers, Wesley Horn, Kenneth Horn; granddaughter, Stephanie Horn; step daughter, Dexter Jean Cooper.
Those who survive him are: Sons: Harold Horn and wife, Marie of Blackstone, VA, Jack D. Horn of Blackstone, VA. Sister, Ruby Gibson and husband, Buck of New Castle, VA. Step Children, Jetta Cole, Mona Stevenson and Ronnie Brown. Two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive him along with a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Troy Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery on Brown Ridge. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 until 8:00pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
