PRINCETON — Mary Jane Wheby Bowling, 88, of Princeton died suddenly Thursday evening, March 16, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born March 24, 1928 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Reed J. Wheby & Lula Moses Wheby.
Mary Jane was educated in Princeton & a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Harrison Street in Princeton.
She was a former cook at Thorn Elementary School in Princeton, and retired from Laundry Department at Princeton Community Hospital. She along with her late parents owned and operated the Wheby's Grocery Store on Mercer Street for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Reed J. Wheby.
Those left to cherish her memory, her son William J. (Billy Joe) Bowling & wife Phi-Ha of Houston TX, Two granddaughters, Phi-Loan Tran of Houston TX & Phi-Hang Tran of Denver CO. Her devoted brother and his wife, Joe F. & Connie Wheby of Princeton, nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Ann Wheby & husband Gary, Joseph F. Wheby Jr., Deena Marie Wheby, John A. Wheby & wife Karen, Frank Wheby & wife Sarah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 24, 2017 from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Harrison Street in Princeton with Father Sebastian Devasya as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Andrew's Diocesan Cemetery in Roanoke VA at 1:00 P.M.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 7:00 P.M.
