Mack Eugene's Story
NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Mack Eugene "Rosie" Myers, age 80 of North Tazewell, VA passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN.
Born September 13, 1936 in Tazewell, VA, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Myers and Lula Mae Thompson Myers. He served in the Air Force and worked for S&S Machinery, later Ingersoll Rand, for more than 30 years as a welder and shop foreman building mining machinery and equipment. Throughout Tazewell, you will find many examples of his workmanship from porches to walls to buildings at the Little League. He was a lifetime member of the Tazewell County Horseman's Club. The day he died he was doing what he did best, taking care of his family and spending time in nature. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was "Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog" having played football at Tazewell High School and was a lifelong fan of Tazewell sports, especially football and baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Alan Myers; siblings Mary Fox, Albert "Banny" Myers, Elmer Myers, Mandy Hayes, Beluah Fox, Henrietta Fox, Sam Myers and Robert "Cotton" Myers; cousin, Betty Thompson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Rhudy Myers; daughter, the Reverend Lisa Myers McGehee and husband, Donald of Richmond, VA; son, Walter Mack Myers and wife, Liz of North Tazewell, VA; grandchildren, Cade, Jayden, and Cross Myers of North Tazewell, VA; many nephews and nieces, including his special niece, Carol Fox Whitt.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 8 PM with his daughter, the Reverend, Lisa Myers McGehee officiating. Private interment will be later at Maplewood Cemetery.
