NARROWS, Va. — Lois Hughes Conley, 79 of Narrows peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 30th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on April 20th, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Lula Thursa Hughes, who Lois took care of until her death. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter and special granddaughter, who Lois also took care of until their deaths, daughter Sharon Jones and precious granddaughter Tammy Jones, as well as a brother, Berman Hughes; and two sisters, Rosie Nicewander and Gladys Long.
Lois was a devoted wife to her husband, J.C., for 60 years. She devoted much of her life to caring for those in need. She was a faithful friend to many people on Wolf Creek, and spent quite a bit of her time making sure they were properly cared and loved when they were sick.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Clayton (J.C.) Conley; three sons, James (Bo) Hughes and wife Nora of Narrows, Calvin Conley and wife Wendy of Christiansburg, Garry Conley and wife Judy of Pearisburg; a daughter, Sandra Myers and husband DeWayne of Narrows; a special niece who was more like a daughter, Donna Neel and husband Randall of Peterstown, West Virginia; two sisters, Fannie Thomas of Chicago, Illinois, and Verna (Tag) Kidd and husband Don of Narrows; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Tim Lacy officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Saturday from 6-8 PM.
