Linda Kay Patton, age 70 of Richlands, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, exactly fifteen years to the day that her mother passed away.
She was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Earl T. and Edna Mildred Burke Patton, former Jewell Ridge natives.
She was a graduate of RHS Class of 1965 and received her Bachelor's Degree from Milligan College in 1968, later receiving her Master's Degree from Virginia Tech. She taught for 40 years in Tazewell County School System at Raven Elementary. She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian where she taught Sunday School, a member of the Jewell Ridge Presbyterian Women's group and was an active member in the CART program. Linda also served as the treasurer of the Woodmen of The World Chapter #404. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Howard Tivis Patton.
Those who survive her to carry on her spirit are: Her husband, Donald Baker of Richlands, VA; Brother, Billy "Bill" Charles Patton and wife, Karen of Richlands, VA; Sister-in-law, Jean Patton of Richlands, VA; Nephews, B.J. Patton and wife, Rachel and T.J. Patton; Nieces, Kimberly Dula and husband, Terry and Barbette Patton and husband, Mike Smith; Great Nephews, Phillip Dula, Jack Patton-Smith, Matthew Dula, Brennan Patton and Ethan Patton; Great Niece, Carly Dula.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, 106 Veterans Dr, Richlands, VA 24641.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Dr. Marc Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be B.J. Patton, T.J. Patton, Mike Smith, Jack Patton-Smith, Carl Addison, and Jackie Shelton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brennan and Ethan Patton.
The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00pm at the funeral home Monday evening and one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
