Lilly Maude's Story
PRINCETON — Lilly Maude Mayberry Richards, 102, of Princeton passed away April 17, 2017 at her residence with her daughter at her side. Born March 8, 1915 at Oakvale she was the daughter of the late David Pete Mayberry and Dorothea Isabelle Akers Mayberry.
She was a devoted homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, loved flowers, cooking, sewing and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lilly was of the Pentecostal faith and served as church clerk for the Clarks Gap Church of God and continued at Garwood Church of God for over fifty years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, W. F. "Bill" Richards; her precious daughter, Florence Isabelle Richards Lusk and grandson, Daniel David Lusk; brothers, Ernest Mayberry, Zeberam Mayberry, Murray Mayberry, Stuart Mayberry, David Mayberry and Clarence Mayberry and sisters, Pearl Akers, Vada Thomas, Callie Belcher and Alice Honaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Campbell and husband Paul of Hiwassee, VA and Joyce Ann Hendrickson of Princeton; two sons, Harold F. Richards of Memphis, TN and David Richards and wife Sheryl of Ogden, UT; one sister, Cleo Ulch of Lapeer, MI; sister-in-law, Melba Mayberry McGlamary of Bluefield, VA; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ricky Shrewsbury officiating. Interment will follow at the Lusk Cemetery, Route 1, Matoaka.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
