Johnny Robert Woosley, age 90 of Jewell Ridge, Virginia passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA following a lengthy illness. He was born in War, WV and was the son of the late Lucian Joseph and Maude Sparks Woosley, former Jewell Ridge residents. He was a retired coal miner and had worked for over 39 years for the Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Johnny had served his country in the United States Army and was a proud member of the UMWA Local #6167. He was well known for his outgoing personality, he loved to socialize and never met a stranger. He was a lifetime resident of the Jewell Ridge area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Lucian Woosley.
Those left to cherish his memory include His wife, Margaret Jaqueline Keene Woosley; Daughter, Connie Denise Woosley Burke and husband, Jerry of Statesville, NC Stepchildren, Charlie Stevenson and wife Sue of Pickens, SC Cassilene Perkins and husband, Jimmy of Slate Creek, VA Dallas Stevenson and wife, Barbara of Fayetteville, AR Ricky Stevenson and wife, Linda of Starke, FL Sonny Stevenson of Richlands, VA; Brother, Perry Woosley of Richlands, VA; Granddaughter, Rachel Leigh Burke of Statesville, NC; 18 Step Grandchildren, 13 Step Greatgrandchildren, and a host of additional family and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Johnny Robert Woosley will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #4 in Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Interment will follow. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the mausoleum one hour prior to the funeral service.
