BLUEFIELD, Va. — John Mason Griffith, 85 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Born in Pocahontas, VA, he was the son of the late George Wilburn and Minnie Rachel Litchford Griffith.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ. John had proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Barns and Beavers Post # 7136, Tazewell, VA. He was a patient, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: John Timothy Griffith; his siblings: Ruth Funk, Martha Sharp, George Griffith, Jr, Nell Richardson, Rosezella Griffith, Joseph Griffith and Bessie Walker.
He will be lovingly and affectionately remembered by his wife of 55 years, Bernice Billips Griffith; his daughter: Lisa Bradford and husband, Philip of Roanoke, VA; his grandson: Harrison Bradford of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law: Betty Griffith of Staunton, VA; several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate John's life will be Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Preacher Steve Moran officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
