Joe's Story

GIATTO — Jerry R. (Joe) Cook, 73, of Giatto, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2017. Born September 28, 1943 in Cherokee, he was the son of the late James D. Cook and Mary Alice Nesbitt Cook.
Mr. Cook was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam era. He was of the Christian faith and attended Hiawatha Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gary R. Cook and Joseph Lee Cook; and two sisters, Priscilla Justine Newman and Jacqueline Marie Jennings.
Survivors include one son, John W. Cook of Princeton; one sister, Edie Warwick of Arizona; one brother, John Cook of Maryland; two grandchildren, Savannah Cook and Garret Cook; two great grandchildren; numerous cousins; a special aunt, Ellen Elliott; special nieces, Julie Perdue and Stephanie McGlothlin; and several cousins, including special cousin, Steve Hartwell.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hiawatha Baptist Church, P.O. Box 255, Hiawatha, WV 24729.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
