BLUEFIELD, Va. Jay Coleman Kelly of Bluefield, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2017. Jay was born on April 11, 1942 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was the son of the late Coleman James and Helen Lako Kelly.
He moved with his family to Bluefield, Virginia in 1981 where he was employed by Thistle Foundry and Machine Company. He eventually became the president/owner of the foundry until his retirement in 2012. Jay was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he worked with the food pantry and served on the Finance Council. He also served on the Economic Development Board for the town of Bluefield, VA. He enjoyed being a member of the Sons of Italy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Howell Kelly; daughters Kyle Thomas and husband Richie of Max Meadows, VA and Betsey Branner and husband, Rod of Harrisonburg, VA; sister Carol Goldman and husband Jim of Park City, UT; brother, Kevin Kelly of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Kelly and Coleman Thomas and Brooke and Abby Branner.
A Memorial Mass of Celebration will be held on Friday, April 21st at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, WV with Rev. Sebastian Devasya, Presider, and Concelebrants, Rev. Leon Alexander and Rev. Patsy Iaquinta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass.
