PRINCETON — James E. Furches, 92, of Princeton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Born November 5, 1924 in Johnson City, TN, he was the son of the late Arthur Furches and the late Stella Sturgill Furches.
James was a hard worker who always provided for his large family of 9 children. He worked for Smith Transfer of Bluefield, WV for 29 years, retiring in 1986. He returned to work at Worldwide Equipment for an additional 10 years. He wanted to continue to work until he was no longer able and always said, "If I just had a little job somewhere..." Dad, your work on earth is over but your life in Heaven has just begun. James attended the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church in Princeton, WV and the Lashmeet Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Furches, his brother, Fred Furches and his grandson, Christopher Furches.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his five sons, Bentine Furches and wife, Ann Furches of Princeton, Gary Furches and wife, Janey Sue of Princeton, Dennis Furches and wife, Christine of Kegley,WV, Tim Furches and wife, Sandy of Princeton, and Rodney Furches and Teresa Gilfilen of Princeton; four daughters, Rhonda Bailey of Princeton, Sandy Milam and husband, Andy of Waskom, TX, Sabrina Jones and husband, Todd of Given, WV, and Dee Roberts and husband, Joshua of Charleston, WV; 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Earl Furches, Eugene Furches, Irene Goode, and Sybil Belcher; extended family and a host of friends.
Services to celebrate the life of James Furches will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton with Pastor Gary Raulerson officiating. Sons and Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Following the services James will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, Mary in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Military Graveside Rites will be performed by the Mercer County Honor Guard.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, March 13, 2017 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home.
