PRINCETON — Jacob Allan Wood, 33, of Black Oak Road, Princeton died suddenly Monday afternoon, February 27, 2017 at his home.
Born February 20, 1984 in Princeton, he was the son of Janet Pennington Blake of Speedway and the late Jeffrey Wood.
Jacob was a graduate of Pikeview High School and had attended New River Community College. He was a EMT specialist, having worked for Widener Ambulance Service and was currently working for Jan-Care Ambulance Service in Beckley. He had served as a volunteer fire fighter for both Matoaka & Athens VFD.
Jacob will be remembered for being a kind person, a person always willing to lend a hand to others. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking out and the X-Box games.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather Fred Pennington who helped raise him.
Survivors include the love of his life, his companion of eleven years, Brittany Nicole Thompson of Princeton; His mother and step-father, Janet & Stanley Blake; His grandmother, Ernestine "Tina" Pennington who also helped raise him; Brittany's parents: Darrell Thompson & Mary Groover; Three siblings: Amanda Showalter & husband Derrick, Eric Wood, & Jason Wood; Niece, Ja'Nyah and Nephew, Grayson; Brother-in-law: Johnathon D. Groover.
We will celebrate the life of Jacob Wood, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors David Damewood and Randy Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowles Family Cemetery at Speedway.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
