Isaac Andrew's Story
Isaac Andrew "Sam" Kennedy of Richlands, Virginia passed away at his home on Saturday, April 15, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Red Ash, Virginia and was the son of the late Virgile and Rosie Jane Elswick Kennedy, former Red Ash residents. He was a retired Machinist Mechanic for Corman Construction of Annapolis Junction, MD.
Sam loved to spend time working on vehicles and watching the Ravens or Orioles playball. He willing served his country in U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was proud to be a Veteran. He was born in Red Ash but after his discharge from the military in 1968 he moved to Maryland and had only recently moved back to this area in 2015. He was of the Holiness faith and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Kenneth Kennedy, sister, Margaret Boyd and a great grandchild, Gavin Ryan Justice.
Those who survive him are: His wife, Dana Jean Underwood Kennedy and her son, Ira Douglas "Chuck: Jackson, Jr. of Richlands, VA. Daughter of his heart whom he loved very much, Denise "Dede" Greene and husband Tim of Belfast, VA. Sister, Ada Silcox and husband, Dennis of Lebanon, VA. Brothers: Harold "Butch" Kennedy and wife, Shirley of the Marvin area in Buchanan County, VA, Ted "Pete" Kennedy and wife, Joyce of Richlands, VA, Thomas "Tom" Kennedy and wife, Libby of Baltimore, MD, Darrell Kennedy and friend, Peggy Stevens of Tazewell. VA. Special thanks to Home Nursing Co., Legacy Hospice and caregivers, Amanda, Helen, Teresa and Ray. Eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren also survive him along with nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverends Walter Boyd, Rick Whitt and J.C. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Greene, Gerald Bullion and Buford Short. Military rites will be conducted by the Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640.
