Herbert Lee's Story
Herbert Lee "Hub" Moore, age 86 of North Tazewell, VA died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home. Born April 12, 1931 in Tazewell, VA, he was a son of the late Joseph Miles Moore and Elsie Bell Moore. He was a US Army Veteran and member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell, VA. Mr. Moore was a member of Midway Christian Church where he served as deacon, was a member of the choir and men's auxiliary.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cortez Moore and three brothers.
He is survived by his sister, Elsie Marie Fleshman and husband, Maynard of Williamson, WV; one son, Grat McDonald, III and wife, Nancy of Tazewell, VA; three daughters, Henrietta (Penny) Holt and husband, Jerome of Columbus, OH, Pamela Cain and husband, Marvin of St. Paul, VA, and Dorothy (Dee-Dee) Mitchell who died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 29, 2017 and husband, Calvin of Tazewell, VA; adopted children, Roger Davis of Tazewell, VA, Jack McDonald Austin, TX, and Trudy Gray and husband, Mark of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, special family, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where joint funeral services for Mr. Moore and his daughter, Dee Dee Mitchell will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend Marvin Cain officiating. Burials will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA where military graveside rites for Mr. Moore will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell, VA and VA National Guard Honor Team of Gate City, VA.
