Hazel Ann's Story
ELKHORN — Hazel Ann Mitchem Cooley 62 of Elkhorn, WV, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Born December 28, 1954 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jim Gus Mitchem and Gladys Graham Mitchem.
Hazel was a member of the Church of God in Elkhorn, she was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and was a resident of McDowell County most of her life.
Other than her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by five sisters: Edith Thompson, Mildred Mitchem, Darlene Lane, Doris Booker and Mary Smith. Four brothers: William "Copperhead" Mitchem, Bobby Mitchem, Billy Mitchem and Wayne Mitchem.
Leaving to cherish her memory are: her husband of 45 years William Andrew "Andy" Cooley of the home; five daughters: Tina Cooley Green and husband Stacey of Spanishburg, WV, Tammy Davis and husband Ricky of Bluefield, WV, Shirley Mitchem and husband Ronald of Elkhorn, WV, Melinda Cooley of McDowell, WV, Gladys Cooley of the home; two brothers: Jerry Mitchem and wife Lorie of Crumpler, WV, and
Glen Mitchem and wife Renea of Jenkinjones, WV.
Service will be conducted Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1: PM at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, WV, with the Rev. Omar Burns officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Friends may call Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 6 until 8: PM at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Stacy Green, Michael Green, Tyler Green, Brandon Toaler, Austin Davis,
Ronald Mitchem, Ryan Mitchem and Eric Graham.
Assisting the Cooley family is Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, WV.
