KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Gary Robert Owens, 71, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Peterstown, WV, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 26, 2017 at his home with his loving wife at his side. Born in Sprague, WV, he was the son of the late Floyd Owens & Hazel Harvey Owens.
Gary was a graduate of Bluefield State College and received his engineering degree from The University of Tennessee. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard.
Gary retired from the Consolidated Nuclear Services as a Quality Assurance Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN. While his health permitted, he enjoyed auto body work, working with his tractor, and spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Curtis Owens.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Tuggle Owens of Knoxville, TN, two children, Charles Owens and Amanda Owens Weiskopff, His son-in-law Robert Weiskopff. Two grandchildren, Alexandria & Katherine Weiskopff. Brother Danny Owens and his wife Shelia. Sister Bonnie Sowder and her husband Don. And Nieces and Nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Gary Owens will be held 7:00 PM Monday evening, January 30, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor David Spencer officiating.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 10:30 AM.
Friends may visit the family Monday evening from 5:00PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
