BLUEFIELD — Felix Nigro, 92 of Bluefield died Sunday December 18, 2016 at a Bluefield nursing home. Born March 4, 1924 in Welch, WV. He was the son of the late Dominick Nigro and Antionette Bouna.
Felix was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and loved football and baseball. He was recruited by Bear Bryant to play football the day after he signed up with the Army and did play semi-pro baseball.
He enjoyed old black and white westerns and movies and had been the neighborhood handyman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Beulah Warden Nigro and seven brothers and sisters.
Felix is survived by his son Joe Nigro of Bluefield, a grandson Joseph Nigro, II of Lemont, IL and a sister Antionette Nigro of Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Scott officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until service time. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard following the service. Burial will at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Bob Neal, Hank Neal, Ryan Miller, Tony Mallamaci and Randy Formica.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers memorial donations be given if desired, to Bluefield Union Mission, 2203 Bluefield, Ave., Bluefield, WV 24701.
