Eva Agee's Story
ATHENS Eva Agee Alvis Huey, 98, of Athens passed on to her new life in heaven on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Glenwood Park Retirement Village. She was born May 2, 1919 in Gardner, WV. She was a lifelong resident of Mercer County, having lived in Athens, WV her entire life.
She graduated from Athens High School and attended Concord College. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a cook at Athens School for several years. Eva loved birds, especially feeding the hummingbirds in front of her home on Pauley Avenue.
She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Athens. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was devoted to her family and loved by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank Lawrence Agee and Fannie Lillian Huff Agee, along with 8 siblings: Frank, Lamar, Thurman, Roy & Paul Agee, Bonnie Kirkham, Dorothy Sutphin & Evelyn Murphy and a daughter in law Shirley Alvis.
Those left to cherish her memory, Four children, Larry Alvis of Princeton, Frank Alvis & wife Gladys of Hillsville VA, Danny Alvis & wife Dianna of Athens, Deborah Whitler & husband Robert of Greensboro NC. Six grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Two step children; Jimmy & Janet Huey.
Services to celebrate the life of Eva Alvis Huey will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 17, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Reverend David Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery near Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
