Esther Mae's Story
PETERSTOWN - Esther Mae Mann, 94 of Peterstown, WV passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home. She was born October 28, 1922 at Narrows, Va. and was the daughter of the late Albert Sydney and Elsie Morris Johnston.
Mae was a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church, was a cook for Monroe County Board of Education cooking at both the Peterstown Elementary and Peterstown High School for over 30 years, and was known in the area for her wonderful baking and catering.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Buddy W. "Bud" Mann, one son, Edward C. "Eddie" Mann, two brothers, Monk and Jim Johnston and one sister, Iris Riddle.
Surviving is two sons, Bud Burton and wife Aubra and Richard Mann all of Peterstown, one daughter, Patricia Broadus of Peterstown, one sister, Lucille Weikle of Salem, Va., and a special grandson, Lane Mann of Peterstown. Nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2017 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown with Darrell Mann and Lane Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Peterstown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
