Donald's Story

Donald Edward Shawver, age 80 of Tazewell, VA died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home. He was born September 10, 1936 in Tazewell County, VA and was a son of the late Will Ed and Clara Gladys Kinser Shawver.
Mr. Shawver was a retired Veteran of the United States Air Force with over twenty years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Shawver worked on his farm and was instrumental in establishing the Clear Fork Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief and was a Charter Member. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Tazewell, VA. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Peery and Mildred Heldreth; two brothers, Eugene Shawver and Ed Shawver.
Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Margaret Repp Shawver; one son, Ralph Shawver and wife, Jacqueline of Tazewell, VA; two sisters, Mary Sue Walberts and Alice Mead Stange and husband, Lyle both of Milwaukee, WI; one brother, Bill Shawver and wife, Christine of Tazewell County, VA; one granddaughter, Kelly Renea Shawver Palzer and husband, Patrick of Washington State; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends also survive.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted for Donald Edward Shawver at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Tazewell, VA with Father Felix Amofa officiating. Burial will follow at the Shawver Farm Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Donnie, Mike and Eddie Shawver, Ralph Heldreth and Danny Walberts.
The family will receive friends at the Church after 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017.
