Cheri Dawn's Story
Cheri Dawn Strong Lyons, 48, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Beacon Place in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, at Summerfield First Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Odom officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A West Virginia Native, Cheri was born on June 23, 1968, to James and Emma Lou Wilson Strong. She graduated from Bluefield High school in 1986 and then attended Bluefield State College. Cheri worked in the retail clothing business before being employed by R.F. Micro Devices in Greensboro. She then left the workforce to raise her two sons. She was an active member of Summerfield First Baptist Church where she kept children in the nursery. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior and was a true testimony to many. Cheri was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. She battled cancer for over 11 years and was always surrounded by family and great friends.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband of 16 years, Gregory Scott Lyons of the home; children, Evan and Alex Lyons of the home; sister, Margaret Strong of High Point.
The family will receive friends from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at the church before the service and would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the many friends that surrounded Cheri in her time of need.
