Carolyn Sue's Story
Carolyn Sue Jackson Taylor, age 66, of Pounding Mill, VA went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Tazewell, VA. Born in Tazewell County, VA she was the daughter of the late Andrew (Andy) Jackson and Jacqueline Gilbert Jackson.
Carolyn was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, and Chair of Administrative Council Board. She was the Church Pianist for several years. She also was a lay delegate of the Holston Annual Conference for 15 years. Carolyn was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as President as well as a member. She was a member of the Richlands Junior Woman's Club.
Carolyn graduated from Southwest Virginia Community College Registered Nursing Program in 1975, and graduated from Bluefield College in 1995 with a BSN. She worked at Clinch Valley Medical Center starting June 16, 1975. Carolyn loved and worked many nursing positions during her nursing career and she also was Nurse Manager of the Skilled Unit from 1994 until her retirement on July 28, 2008. Carolyn retired with 33 years of nursing which she loved at Clinch Valley Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Taylor; one son, Adam D. Taylor; two sisters, Priscilla McReynolds and husband Garry of Richlands, VA and Marsha Bryant and husband Jerry of Glade Springs, VA; three special aunts, Helen Robinson, Ella Ringstaff, and Ellen (Cricket) Jackson; special nieces and nephews, Whitney Ann Harman and husband Cody, Katelyn Drew McReynolds, Andrew Eli McReynolds, Brittany Prater and husband Ethan, Chelsey Bryant, Ava Ann Harman, Adam Paul Harman, Enoch Prater, Silas Prater, and Jude Prater.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church in Cedar Bluff, VA with the Rev. Annette Warren and Pastor Dickie Plaster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
