ASHLAND — Carl James Rose Sr. 73 of Ashland, WV, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 after a long illness. Born July 28, 1943 in Ashland, he was the son of the late Elbert Rose and Ethel Knuckles Rose.
Carl was affiliated with the Holiness Faith, was a former coalminer, was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a resident of Ashland most of his life.
Other than his parents, Carl was preceded in death by three brothers: Lawrence Rose, Lonnie Rose and Elmer Hartley.
Survivors include: Sons, Carl James Rose Jr. and former wife Ronda of Ashland, Mark Rose and wife Lillian of Ashland, daughter, Donna Caves and husband Jonathan of Crumpler, WV. Seven grandchildren: James, Jason, Cassandra, Mark, Amanda, Destiny and Isabella. Eleven great-grandchildren, four brothers: London Rose and wife Joan of Ohio, Ray Rose and wife Glenna of McDowell, WV, Oley Rose and Jerry Rose,
both of Glenwood, WV. Five sisters: Rosie Hurst and husband Lennie of NC, Sue East of Princeton, WV, Martha Rose and companion of Pocahontas, VA, Shirley Rose of Princeton, WV, and Deborah Rose of McDowell, WV. Also a host of other extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, WV, at 12:30 PM with Pastor Jonathan Caves officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn
Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV.
Friends may call from 11:AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: James Rose, Jason Rose, Randy Green, Daniel Green, Justin Caves and
Bradley Justice.
Assisting the Rose family is Widener Funeral Home Northfork, WV.
