BALLARD Calvin "Buddy" Bennett Jr., also known as Boss Hog, age 87, of Ballard, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rich Creek, VA. Born November 13, 1929, at Gatewood, WV, he was the son of the late Calvin Bennett Sr. and Roxie Sheaves Bennett.
Calvin was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Ballard, a retired employee of Celanese Corp., and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheri Lynn Bennett; three brothers, James, Phillip, and Joe Bennett; three sisters, Margaret Copeland, Alice Kuhn, and Nancy Bennett; and three infant siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rachel Frances Miller Bennett; two sons, Timothy Bennett and wife Kelly of Rich Creek, VA, and Steven Bennett of Ballard, WV; two daughters, Marcia Reese and husband Keith of Peterstown, WV, and Melissa Naylor of Rich Creek, VA; two brothers, Lloyd Bennett and wife Donna of Ballard, WV, and Gary Bennett of Christiansburg, VA; four sisters, Phyllis Kuhn of Cool Ridge, WV, Drema Helm and husband Teddy of Bozoo, WV, Carol Browning and husband Wayne of Forest Hill, WV, and Gloria Bodge of New Hampshire; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Steve Howdock and Evangelist Nathan Miller officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the Orchard Cemetery in Ballard, WV.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
