Betty's Story

Betty Sue Stone, 80, of Abbs Valley, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 2, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Peacock.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Stone. She is survived by two sisters: Jackie Nunley and Peggy Henegar, both of Abbs Valley, VA. She is survived by two daughters: Kandy Brightbill and husband David of Lebanon, VA and Tammy Hylton and husband David of Morgantown, WV. She is survived by a son: Jeff Stone and wife Trinity of Bluefield, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Travis Brightbill and wife Kristen of Fort Mill, SC Adam Brightbill and wife Anita of Roanoke, VA, Delaney Stone of Johnson City, TN, Makenzie Novinger of Bluefield, VA and Bray Stone of Bluefield, VA. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren: Kipton and Judah Brightbill of Roanoke, VA. Sue leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mercer Nursing and Rehab for the excellent care and love that they shared with Mrs. Stone over the last several months.
Services for Sue will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA. Visitation will precede the service at noon. Pastor Carlos Hess will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Center for Christian Action, P.O. Box 608, Pocahontas, VA 24635.
