NORTH TAZEWELL, VA. — Bernard E. Brooks, age 94 of the Mudfork community in North Tazewell, VA died Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Dogwood Crossing in Tazewell, VA. Born August 20, 1922 at Mudfork, VA he was the son of the late William Lindsey Brooks and Lucy E. Mundy Brooks. He was a lifetime member of Brown's Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Brooks was a US Army World War II Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Gay Ball Brooks and one sister, Sylvia Bales.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela G. "Pam" Irvin and husband, Charles of North Tazewell, VA; son, Jonah E. Brooks of North Tazewell, VA; sister, Jessie Whitt of Mudfork in North Tazewell, VA; grandchildren, Matthew C. Irvin and wife, Anna of Witten Valley in Tazewell, VA and Teresa Henry and husband, Steve of Richmond, VA; great granddaughter, Danielle Henry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Neal Hammons officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA and VA National Guard Honor Team of Gate City, VA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Thursday evening, March 16, 2017.
