BLUEFIELD, VA — Andy Grat Meadows, 92, of Bluefield, VA, died Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born May 24, 1924 in Grundy, VA, he was a son of the late John A. and Matilda Meadows. Mr. Meadows was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He retired from National Electric Coil. Mr. Meadows was a member of East River Church in Bluefield, VA and was also a member of the V.F.W. He loved to garden and hunt and also enjoyed woodworking. He liked to travel and also enjoyed walking. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lema Odell Meadows; daughter, Linda Sue Linkous; sisters, Little Lou, Clercy, Jane, and Rachel; and brothers, Loren, Harrison, Noah, Dewey, and Perry.
Survivors include his children, Judie White and husband O'Dell of Bland, VA, Donnie Meadows of Abingdon, VA, and Janice Stowers of Bluefield, VA; seven grandchildren, Brandon Stowers and wife Brandy, Chelsea Stowers, Daniel Whitlow, Heather Magann and husband Jim, Lauren Troup and husband Mike, Morgan Davis and husband Shannon, and Robyn Godwin and husband Kevin; seven great-grandchildren, Beniah, Faith, Givonniah, Isaiah, Maisy, Noelle, and Riley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday March 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Boyd officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
