Alva Faye's Story
ABINGDON, VA Alva Faye Morgan Johns, 78 formerly of Welch, WV, died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the home of her granddaughter.
Alva was born in Davy, WV, on February 24, 1939 to the late Anthony "Hoot" and Nellie Morgan. Alva was a beautician and the owner of Beauty Land in Welch for 25 years. She loved her family and spoiling each of them with their favorite foods when they visited.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Johns of Welch, WV, brother: Harold Morgan of Romney, WV, and a sister: Brenda Baker of Rocky Gap, VA, Granddaughter: Crissy Rochelle Lane of Washington, PA.
Alva is survived by her beloved son Gerry Griffey and wife Darlene of Bristol, TN.
In addition to her son she is survived by three brothers: Jack Morgan and wife Nancy of Bastian, VA, Junior Morgan and wife Phyllis of Bucyrus OH, Marty Morgan and wife Theresa of Princeton, WV, three sisters: Jean Peterson of Denver, CO, Sandra Burks and husband Fairley of Princeton, WV, and Thelma Morgan of Alexander, AK and one sister-in-law: Barbara Morgan of Nashville, TN.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Angie Richards and husband Patrick of Abingdon, VA, and Brandon Griffey and Wife Audra of Bluefield, VA. Along with great grandchildren Alysa, Ethan and Chloe Richards, Griffin Lane, Jaylin Jones and Braxton Griffey.
In abiding with her wishes the body will be cremated and no visitation or service will be held.
