Wilma's Story

LASHMEET — Wilma Gravley McKinney, 90, of Reese Harmon Ridge Road, Lashmeet, died Friday, December 23, 2016. She departed her earthly life for her heavenly home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her beloved husband Burles. Born June 26, 1926 at Dott, she was the daughter of the late Robert Gravley and Addie Goad Gravley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burles McKinney in 1987; and one brother, Noah Gravley.
Mrs. McKinney was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and active until her health declined. She leaves so many special friends and one whom was like a sister, Alma Elliot. She also leaves behind all of her wonderful neighbors and church friends. She loved to cook, make fried apple pies and help others with their needs.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Blankenship and husband Norman of Wytheville, VA; one son, Dwight (Ike) McKinney and wife Susie of Summersville; six grandchildren, Angela Rose and husband Terry of Hillsborough, NC, Rhonda Scott and husband Mark of Beckley, Beth Hampton and husband William of Bluefield, VA, Amanda Johnson and husband Jeremy of Summersville, Kevin McKinney of Mt. Nebo and Jonathan Gotshall of Charlotte, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Megan and Chad Rose, Rachel Shepperd Scott, Emily and Cameron Hampton and Drew and Jacob Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Gravley of Ferron, UT, Leona McKinney of Beckley and Leona (Herley) McKinney of Princeton, one aunt, Kathleen Gravley of Greensboro, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastors Norman Mills and Jerry Heaton officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
