CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — William W. "Bill" Steele, age 76 of the Baptist Valley Community of Cedar Bluff, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 29, 2017 while a patient at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, VA.
He was born January 20, 1941 in Buchanan County, VA and was a son of late Everett and Hilda Null Mitchell and the adopted son of the late John Tyler and Ora Malissa Mitchell Steele. He was a 1959 Graduate of Feds Creek High School in Feds Creek, KY. Mr. Steele had worked for many years as a coalminer for CONSOL at Bishop and later was the owner/operator of the 67 Grocery in Richlands, VA. Bill was a good man; as he would say, "not perfect but saved". He was born again June 23, 1993 and was a member of Dailey's Chapel United Methodist Church in Baptist Valley, VA.
In addition to his biological and adoptive parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis "Quackie" Fink and Ann Hill; one brother, Benny Mitchell.
Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife, companion and friend of fifty-nine years, Sandra Kathleen Puckett Steele; one son, Rick Steele and wife, Melodie of Baptist Valley, VA; one daughter, Malissa Steele Lynch of Winston-Salem, NC; one grandson of whom he was very proud, Tyler Lynch of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers-in-law, Edward Hill of Carlisle, PA and Arlie Fink of Boones Mill, VA; special aunt, Frances Mata of Stanton Island, NY; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Heavenly Homecoming for William W. "Bill" Steele will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. John Repass and Evangelist Kenneth Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
