BLUEFIELD, WV William "George" Smalls Jr., 58 of Bluefield, WV, joined the Angels in Heaven on January 20, 2018, following a brief illness.?
"George" was born on July 7, 1959, to the late William G. Smalls Sr., and survived by his mother Mary Kate Stillwell Smalls also of Bluefield.?
He graduated from Bluefield High School. "George" worked at First Century Bank, before becoming the Assistant Director at the City of Bluefield Park and Rec. Department. He coached little league basketball and AAU basketball.  He was currently working with Mercer Funeral Home, at the time of his passing.?
He was united in marriage to Shelby Martin Smalls and during 34 years of marriage two children were born, William G. Smalls III and Michael T. Smalls both of Raleigh, NC.?
"George" is preceded in death by a host of aunts and uncles. He was a devoted husband, father and friend.?
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelby Smalls; sons, William, III and (Danica), and Michael; his mother, Mary Kate Smalls; his precious granddaughter, Reagan Smalls; sisters, Ella "Flookie" Smalls of Bluefield, Sherri Smalls of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Curtis (Margie), Hugh (Jeanie), and Costa (Nickie) all of Bluefield; aunts, Kathleen Bailey, Doris Spencer, Juanita Smalls Trigg all of Bluefield; and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at John Stewart United Methodist Church at noon. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia where Quentin Crenshaw, Charles Williams, Chris Smalls, Eric Smalls, Brian "BJ" Smalls, Robert Booker, Dave Thompson, Norris "Gene" Shipp will serve as pallbearers.
