William H. Hankins, 82, of Bastian, VA passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017.
For the past 39 years, he has lived his life in Rocky Gap. He was married for nearly 65 years to Annie Cochran Hankins and together they raised 8 children.
"Bill" was the son of the late Rev Joseph and Sarah Brooks Hankins.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring vintage cars. He was a good man who never knew a stranger. He helped many, many people along the way and was a devoted caregiver to his wife until the day she died.
Their children included Lee Roy (deceased), Bill Jr (Freda) of Lashmeet, WV, John (Jan) of Wellston, OK, Mary (Kenneth) Boyer of Randolph, OH, Larry (Kim) of Kent, OH, Rita (Robert) Carver of Bastian, VA, Richard (Patty) of Dublin, VA and Benjamin (Abby) of Alliance, OH; brothers: Fred of Lexington, NC, Stanley (Phyllis) of Doylestown, OH; sister: Clara (James) Wood of Barberton, OH; in-laws: Douglas (Nancy) Cochran, Wanda (Joe Brown), Edna (Robert) Trayler and John (Patty) Cochran; 65 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
II Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Bastian Union Church with Rev Paul Looney officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Bastian Union Church from 6-8 P.M.
